Frequently Asked Questions

Can you help me lose weight?

Yes. I will help you achieve body composition changes and weight loss by creating healthy habits.  But, it’s important to note that I’m not a trainer who is going to obsess with the weight on the scale or body measurements.  Instead, we will focus on how you feel. For example: Do you have energy to make it through the day? Are you able to go up and down the stairs without pain?  Can you go on a strenuous hike?  A healthy lifestyle so you can do all the things you want to do as you go through life’s transitions is what I will help you achieve.

Can you solve all of my wellness problems quickly?

Quick fixes are not what I’m all about - I’m here to help you through the long haul.  Wellness is a lifelong journey, not a quick fix.  We’re going to take it slow and progress as your body increases strength and is ready for more challenges.  Developing habits take time and work and we will do it together – I’ve got your back!

What times are you available for personal training?

I offer in-person and virtual training for clients, which is best suited to those who are available during school hours (east coast time zone).  I’m a baseball mom and enjoy spending time with my son as he grows up, so my evening and weekend availability is very limited. For local clients, my in-person availability is either at my private home gym or at your home.

Do i have to live near you?

No!  If online coaching is a good fit for you, I am happy to work with you.

Which do you love more, cats or dogs?

Cats! 100%

Do you create meal plans?

No, this is outside my scope of practice.  I will teach you the principles of healthy eating and how important it is to fuel your body to do what you want it to do.  Most importantly, we will work to create healthy habits that stick.

Do i have to see a doctor before working with you?

An annual checkup with your doctor is always a good idea!  If you have any major health concerns, have been injured or are working with a physical therapist, you will need clearance from your doctor to perform exercise.

Who is your target audience?

My sweet spot is women 40+ essentially the peri-menopause through post-menopause years.

Do you seriously want me to lift heavy weights?

Yes!  Resistance training is essential to long term health.  But don’t stress or worry about this as you’re starting out.  We will take it slow and you will be ready to start lifting heavy sh*t soon and your body will love you for it!

Why should i work with you instead of a different trainer?

As women age, both our exercise and nutrition must adjust according to the change in hormones.  My education and expertise are specific to guiding women through the menopause transition.  I am here to guide you through your unique midlife experience.

Do i need any equipment?

To get started, just your body is all you need.  As you gain strength, you will want to incorporate tools like exercise bands, exercise ball and weights.
